...to know the Shepherd.

I want to be a John 10:27 kind of girl.
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
His sheep know His voice.
They hear it so often. They recognize and follow.
The Lord knows them.
They listen.
I don't want to be so distracted with listening to the world
and miss His voice.
If I allow myself to stray from my Shepherd, I will hear the lies of the world that tell me my life
 is devastating.
I would hear that I need the newest biggest car and the biggest nicest house.
I would hear that I need to look a certain way with a certain body.
I would hear that I need to act like someone else to be noticed.
I would hear that status is everything.
I would hear that I need to stuff all my money in a bank account rather than give to those in need.
I would hear that my husband is worthless.
I would hear that my marriage
is over.
To know the Shepherd is to hear His voice.
To hear His promises.
To hear that He has plans for me and He knows me.
Jeremiah 29:11
To hear that I can look forward to the new heaven and new earth.
2 Peter 3:13
To hear that I have a special place in my Father's house.
John 14:2
To hear that He blesses me and shields me with His favor.
Psalm 5:12
To hear that weeping may last for a night but joy comes in the morning.
Psalm 30:5
To hear that He binds up the brokenhearted and comforts those who mourn.
Isaiah 61:1-2
To hear that He is for me so who can be against me?
Romans 8:31
To hear that He gives strength to the weary and power to the weak.
Isaiah 40:29
To hear that He knows how many hairs are on my head.
Matthew 10:30
To hear that His love endures forever.
1 Chronicles 16:34
To hear that He will provide for me.
Matthew 6:25-26
To hear that if I call to Him He will answer.
Psalm 86:7
To hear that He turns my mourning into dancing and surrounds me with joy.
Psalm 30:11
To hear that He will meet all of my needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19

I want to be Kathleen Darling, the one whom knows the Shepherd.
The one who hears the Shepherds voice.

You're invited!!!

We invite you to come write a scripture, prayer, or words of encouragement on our framed home!

We grabbed a pen and started tonight but our plan is to return tomorrow evening with a Sharpie and write a little more.

We'd love all of you that are close to be involved!

So...during the next couple days after 4pm stop by...take a look...walk around...pray...

and write.

Directions: Head on Olympia towards 45th. Turn right on 42nd, left on S. Palouse St, and then right on 44th. Our home is straight back once you turn on 44th!

We won't see the words once our little home is finished but we'll always know they're there!

And the prayers don't expire or get covered up :)

Thankful Hearts!

I think I'm pretty much at the point that I'm so far behind in updating that I now stare at the computer screen wondering where in the world to start.
and night after night it leads to nothing.
I close the computer and decide the next day will be easier...but it never comes!

Here's for a try!

These pictures are going to be in a random order...

We went to a ball game with his mom one night. Our local baseball team is the Dust Devils. Cale continually pointed out how hockey is better. :o)

Several days ago Cale found my headband in the car and decided to wear it. No big deal in the car, but it gets pretty funny when we get out of it!

He also decided it would be hilarious to put one of my dresses on...
The first one he tried he couldn't get over his head without ripping it. He managed to get this one on but then got stuck in it!
The funniest part to me was twice within a week he's made the statement, "I'm man of the house." Which I love hearing him say...but he may be confused! ;o) Haha!

I snapped this picture a couple days ago right as Cale was about to start praying. We were sitting on the couch just chilling and the conversation of having a baby came up. I talked with Cale about how right now isn't the time and then suggested we pray for the time to be the Lord's perfect plan and to pray for the lives of our future kiddos.
It was such a sweet time.
My heart was gushing with love and excitement.
Hope.

It is SO crazy to me that this will only be our home for a little longer. I'm really excited for our new home because it's a huge deal that we're able to build our own home, but the Lord blessed us in a beautiful way with the home we're living in now. For those of you that don't know, the home we've been at since returning home from the hospital after 14 months belongs to our church. Before we came home and without too much notice, many people sacrificed their time to fix this house up and make it into the Darling home.

There hasn't been a single day that we've lived here that I haven't at some point during the day felt tears rise up with the thought of the true gift this home is. A house is just a house. It's a worldly possession that won't be coming with us to heaven, but the heart that went into creating this incredible gift is a treasure!

We are so very thankful for all of you that gave of your time, donated money, and sweat while laboring...

Our new home is sure coming along! We've been making daily trips (sometimes a couple times daily...) to watch the progress. Yay!

Garage floor!

They dropped off "stuff"

And decided to give us a driveway :)

...and the "stuff" became something!

Today was extra exciting because we walked through our doorway for the first time!!! Wow! Don't mind Cale being shirtless...I tried to talk him into putting on a shirt at least for the picture but he wouldn't have anything to do with it!  ;o)
We have a couple trips coming up next month and so far I've been disappointed that I would miss seeing the process of everything finishing up, but now I think I'm glad we'll miss some of it...I may just drive myself nuts!

I had a dentist appointment today. I went in just for a cleaning...
They told me I have beautiful healthy teeth and gums but my wisdom teeth need to come out! They're impacted which means...I now make a call to the oral surgeon.
Yuck.
Eh, it'll mean for a couple lazy days I guess!
Jammies...movies...ice cream...
Not too terrible.

I do promise there will be an Ecuador update soon. For some reason my iPhone pictures don't transfer to my computer well. It makes for a long process. With so many pictures...well...yeah. I'm slow.

...with him.

I just really really love being with him.

That's all.

Yard Sale!

Mark your calendars folks! We're having a yard sale! If you're in the Tri-Cities or close to it, come visit! We had first decided to make it fairly small not putting it out there for donations, but it has ended up into a huge one! We've gone through all of our things that we had in storage from NY, gone through all the "stuff" we have now, and have had some things donated.

All funds are going to our new home! We left a few things out of the mortgage with wisdom and guidance given from others, that will still need to be done before move-in day!

We'd love to have you stop by and see if you find any little treasures! :)

Saturday August 25th
2435 W. Bruneau Ave
8am-3pm

We hope to see ya!

Don't wanna miss...

For some time now, the two of us dance together in our kitchen. It was something we did in NY just being silly and Cale being sweet. I'm not sure the time that it started here, but I have seen it evolve into a beautiful rhythm. In the beginning, Cale's balance was terrible and there was no initiation.
I would lead and each time I would be the one to begin the dance.

Through the months that have passed of our dancing together, Cale's balance has improved and slowly initiation has come. Recently, he will come into the kitchen and no matter what I'm doing, he will grab me for a dance and he leads it. Every twirl and dip.

It would be easy for me to sometimes shrug off his request to dance with me, if dinner is on the stove or I'm in the middle of chopping veggies. I can so easily respond that "I'm busy" or "lets do it later".

I don't want to miss out on those moments with him. I don't want to be too busy to dance with my miracle man. I don't want to ever forget the beauty in the dance the Lord has knit back together.

I'm thankful for another piece of our marriage that is daily being restored. I'm thankful Cale walks. I'm thankful he has the desire to do something and make it happen.

I'm thankful for Mama who understands when I leave the veggies for her to chop.

I'm so very thankful for dancing.

Hola!

I've returned from a trip to Quito, Ecuador! It was a full trip and I have a TON to share, but for now I have a video I made for ya...

Thank you for all your prayers while I was gone, for me and for Cale!
