I'm SO Excited!!

At 10:30am Cale was STILL sleeping. The night nurse had given his sleeping medicine at 3:00am, instead of 9pm like usual...he was out! A friend that was deployed with him this last year came to visit for a couple hours, so we talked Cale into getting out of bed. Since we made him, and didn't do it in his timing...he was a bit grumpy again. He didn't want to have anything to do with speech or PT and OT. Eventually, we decided putting him back to bed, and letting him sleep it out was the best idea :)

When I came back from eating lunch, he was awake and in a better mood. Therapy came in a little while later and did some different things with him. They're trying to get him to use his right hand more. Right now, the left hand is dominant, and most things he tries to do one handed. That's going to take some work. They tried some writing with him again. Carolyn (OT) wrote first and then Cale after. He did it with his left hand again, it looks like right now that's what's working for him!

Just so everyone is clear...middle of May, this program ended, and we were already supposed to be in Vancouver, WA at a nursing home. There were some delays because of the Army getting everything straightened out. Yesterday, Cale was accepted into a program, that will continue therapy, eventually rehab, and he may never have to set foot in a nursing home! God's timing is SO perfect! Just wanted to get my excitement out! :)

Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare. Psalm 40:5

  2. Kathleen,
I am so glad that Cale is doing better! I read the blog everyday, and you can tell how far he has come since the accident. Please know that I will continue to pray for you and Cale. God is doing miraculous things and I know that you both will make it through all of this. I also want to thank you for keeping us updated and giving us your spiritual thoughts.

  3. Dear Kathleen,
"Happy" for you does not really describe how I feel! There are no words, really. I am just completely amazed with Cale's progress and delighted he is moving into a new program! : D
    Our prayers are working!
    All my love,
    Lorri C.

  4. Okay I started to read this update and got as far as Cale's writing. I had to stop reading because I started to cry and couldn't see the words. WOW is not a big enough word to descibe how amazing this is. THANK YOU is not enough to say to everyone who continue to pray for Cale every day or who have come in to my daughters life to help her through this. I pray every morning that Cale will have a good day & that Kathleen will not be alone. Our God is an awesome God & He is not done with Cale & Kathleen yet.
