Beauty

Basil is on his way home!!! It makes me soooo happy! He's going to be staying with a family here, so Cale and I will both get to see him lots. I think it's going to be good for Cale to have him around again, and for me too! I've really missed him! I realize he's just a dog, but since I've gotten him, he's cuddled with me, licked my tears away, jumped around while I laughed, and kept me company :) He's a good dog!

Cale had a good day in therapies. There was a little...um...issue? that needed to be dealt with so psych therapy didn't happen this morning. Tomorrow is another day! The rest of therapies went really good. Everyday he does a little better than the day before. It's so exciting! He had an MRI done today for his nose, so I'm waiting for the results.

The last few days I've really missed hearing Cale say that he thinks I'm beautiful (yes, I'm a girl!) and that he loves me. So many mornings, right when we're waking up and my hair is everywhere, and I have pillow lines all over my face, Cale would look at me and say "good morning beautiful". Heart melter! Well, it's been a while since I've gotten to hear that, and even though it's not that big of a deal as far as the overall scheme of things, it's kind of a big deal for me, especially the last few days. Well, God knowing my heart, swooped in like a knight on a white horse and rescued me from my sad thoughts. He reminded me of His beauty.

One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord
and to seek him in his temple. Psalm 27:4
The Lord is beautiful. I was once again reminded that His beauty is what I need to be focused on. When I'm allowing myself to be filled with things of God, and taking time to gaze upon His beauty then that will reflect through me. Something that I've prayed since about 7th grade is that when people look at me, that they would see Jesus flowing through me instead of just me. That I would reflect Him in all I do.

And I will continue to look forward to hearing "good morning beautiful" from the lips of my beloved.

  2. Kathleen, I know you long to hear those words, but I have witnessed the way Cale looks at you. He may not be able to say it but he is definitely feeling it. Look into his eyes and watch the way he is constantly looking your way. His heart speaks out through his eyes--for now. You are very beautiful inside and out. Love and miss you both so much. Kathleen, That prayer you have prayed since 7th grade....was obviously and repeatedly answered while you were here in NC with us. In fact, that is usually the first thing I hear when people mention your name. Stay connected to the Vine and keep letting Jesus flow through you. I KNOW it isn't the same, but...."Good morning, beautiful!" ;D

Your friend Hannah Hayner emailed a sister church about you and this blog asking for prayer support. Our church (Peninsula Covenant in Redwood City) has a ministry with Fisher House so hopefully you have met some of us. Just wanted to encourage you and let you know that we'll put you on our weekly prayer list! Your testimony WILL be used! So thankful you have our Lord to hang onto. May God's lovingkindness wash over you both today...
