The Red Zone

For you are the fountain of life, the light by which we see. Psalm 36:9

Today was pretty chill at the hospital. Cale had therapy from 8-10am and then we were done for the whole afternoon! We sat outside in the garden, playing a never-ending game of Chutes and Ladders. It was a fun game filled with lots of laughter :)

I think I didn't get out right what I was trying to say last night about me not taking care of myself...I've gotten comments and emails saying that I'm beautiful and not to let Satan bring me down! Well, thank you for saying I'm beautiful! I don't always feel it living hospital life, but now that Cale can talk, he tells me constantly how pretty I am :) I meant the kind of stuff like, getting rest, taking my vitamins, exercise, drinking enough water, all the things that go out the window when taking care of Cale is my priority :) I'm really going to work at doing better. Thank you so much for being so encouraging though!

Our day ended with entering the Red Zone! Cale and I went to a Stanford football game tonight! They were playing Arizona and when we left the score was 35 to 10! Go Stanford! Cale had lots of fun and did so great! A couple times something would happen and I'd lean over and ask him if that was good or bad. He seemed to tell me the right answer every time because right after the crowd would usually make it clear for me! ;)

The Hot Rod we rode to the game in :)

Up he goes!

Cheese :) We had our Stanford shirts on and were ready to cheer!

Half Time! Poor Cale was freezing at this point! Shortly after I bundled him up as best I could!

I was so excited about getting to dance with Cale last night that I forgot to say something I'm thankful for, so two tonight!

5) I'm so very thankful for my mom. She is an incredible woman. Proverbs 22:6 says " Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it." She has had a hard life and yet she continually gives praise to the Lord. She is always willing to give and help someone even if it means her going with out. She has such a big heart and even adopted a dog last summer even though she usually just likes animals from a distance. She saw how abused and neglected he was and she couldn't stand it! There was a lot of stuff going on at home as I grew up, but she was faithful to be an example and direct me on the right path. Thank you Mama, I love you! Also, I am so thankful for Kathy (my mother-in-law). From the time Cale and I started dating, I've had a good relationship with her and through this whole thing since the accident, it's only gotten closer. She has been so supportive and great through it all. It means so much that we have the relationship that we do. Kathy, thank you and I love you! The both of you are an amazing blessing!

6) I'm thankful for music. There is so much that God speaks to my heart through music. There have been times that I go before the Lord and I don't even know what to say or where to start. There is so much going on in me, that I can't even figure it out. Time after time, I will hear a song that seems so perfect at bringing everything into a clear picture for me. I love getting to worship through music. I've wanted to learn the piano for a long time just so I could play and use it in my time worshiping God. One day I'll learn how to play!

Here is a song that a friend shared with me yesterday-and I love it!

  1. Kathleen, You know, I think it a woman thing to forget to take care of herself when she's caring for those in her life. I do it, too. I'm glad you had such a good time today. Father has those moments for us, yes He does!! Hugs, Marion Hansen

  2. Kathleen,
Sorry it has been a few days. Wow. You are so very awesome and so beautiful. Inside and out. I really don't know what else to tell you about you that I haven't already said. I am so so proud of you. You are a Proverbs 31 wife in every way. We are so happy to see these moments of clarity in Cale and these times of happiness for you. These outings are getting to be more frequent and so good for both of you. I can't tell you how happy they make us to see you both going to a football game and a hockey game and going out to dinner and restoring normalcy to your marriage. Now young lady go take a hot bubble bath, read a mystery and get a nap. If anyone in this world deserves a break it's who? Yes YOU!!!!!
    Love you my girl,
    Charlie and Jean
