They're here! They're here!

Before I write anything else, I want to say thank you for all of your concern with me writing the blog and letting me know its ok to take a break! Thank you for the ideas to write less too. By me not writing every night lately was actually me taking a little break. :) One of the reasons I like to write every night is so that I can get everything out about the day, whether it’s a celebration or venting. It’s been a blessing to be able to capture all the stages and steps we’ve been through, at the same time, when it’s not enjoyable then it’s not what I need…so, I decided not to force myself and just not write until I wanted to! I love that there are so many of you watching out for me and thinking of my needs…I’m blessed!

I found myself looking back at where Cale was around this time last year. We were still in NC preparing to leave for CA. Cale didn’t have such a great time this day last year (click here to read), but you know what? He had a good day today! His nose was bothering him a lot and so were his eyes, but he walked around the house with a cane, he went on an outing for therapy, he laughed with our family tonight, and he’s sleeping next to me. He has come so incredibly far since last year…oh me oh my! Just the thought of where he could be next year…! All the possibilities and oooh! Just to think about how much he’ll be understanding and be even farther along with walking…! When I let my mind roll with those thoughts, well, I tend to get a bit excited. I kind of feel like a bubble about to pop! Heehe!

So…my brother and his family are here visiting from NC! For those of you that don’t know, my brother was right in front of us when the accident happened. Him and my niece watched the whole thing happen and then for the next few weeks had to deal with seeing it play over and over in their minds. Now, they’re here and we’re having fun already! We just saw them end of March when we took our trip back to NC, but they haven’t been here since 2005. We have some fun things planned for the week they’re here!

One of my really good friends in NY sent me something that I wanted to share. As I read it this morning, it was exactly what I needed to read. Hannah has been a mega blessing in my life. Not just since the accident, but from the time I first met her…and I’m pretty positive I can confidently say I’m not the only one that can say that. She’s pretty stinkin’ amazing if you ask me! When Cale was deployed or off training, Hannah would be my company and when her husband joined the Army, I became her company when he was away. We’ve had some fun times working out while watching Food Network, laughing hysterically while trying to play DDR, watching crazy movies that have no point, incredible prayer times, and just enjoyment of being together. I always look forward to her emails and messages because they are always so encouraging and get me all pumped!

hey you! i was just having a little time of prayer for you (at the piano woohoo!), and i felt like it was almost like you were in a tunnel, living with restrictions and limits, and not a whole lot of light. you could kind of see a light in the distance at the end of the tunnel, and you would cling to that, and it would give you hope! but the Scripture God brought to mind is about the spacious place free from restriction! almost like you would finally walk out of that tunnel, and there would be this huge open space in front of you for as far as you could see, and you could finally have space to run and dance and it was soooo bright, because there was no longer the restrictions of the tunnel! so have hope! even if some days you feel like you're living in a tunnel and just barely clinging to the small amount of light that you can see, the Lord is bringing you AND CALEB! to a spacious place, free from restriction!!! :)

Job 36:15 But those who suffer he delivers in their suffering;
he speaks to them in their affliction.

16 “He is wooing you from the jaws of distress
to a spacious place free from restriction,
to the comfort of your table laden with choice food...

Cale looked at me from across the table this morning and asked, "Hey, is your name Kathleen?" K: "Yep" with a big smile he said, "Oh hi!" I asked what that meant and he said, "We're married. We sleep together. You're my wife. Yay! I love you!"

On the way to the airport to pick up my brother, Cale was telling me that his eye was hurting really bad. I let him know that I was sorry, but I couldn’t do anything at the moment. About a minute later he says, “uh, we have a bigger problem than that!” When I asked what it was he said, “I have to go to the bathroom!”

“and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:20

I just plain giggled when he was telling you his "bigger" problem. Oh, your precious brother. I am so glad he can be withyou for awhile. I couldn't imagine playing the accident over and over like must have happened for him. I AM glad Father has brought him to where he is. I love you guys more than I can say. Thank you for letting me be a part of your life. Your plan to write when you want is a good one. Thanks for telling us it's a therapy for you. Trusting Father fou you both, Marion

  4. Dear Kathleen,
Just wanted to let you know that I am still reading your posts and praying for Cale and you!
It is wonderful that you are taking time to enjoy yourself and not feeling obligated to write nightly! If your tired, go to sleep, get your rest and don't feel guilty!
With working 12 hour shifts I do not have the time to read your posts daily, I catch up as I can. I have no expectations that you need to write every night. You are a very busy woman, as we all are, so please dont feel like its a chore you must do every night before you lay your head down.
I am greatful for the posts/updates, but do not expect it to be a daily thing.

Also, your pillows are really CUTE! : D
    All my LOVE,
    Lorri C.
