a thought for the ladies...

Cale with brain injury has opened doors in a wild-kind-of-way into a mans brain. He has no filter. Everything comes out and comes out with anyone and everyone around (oh the joys and adventures...and blushing that goes on around here!!). I'm in no way going to say that I'm now a girl that has the male brain completely figured out, but I will shed light on just one thing he said to me that has made me really think...

A couple weeks ago we were looking through a magazine and we flipped to a page with a lady standing there in a bikini with a beautiful beach scene behind her. I think the add was for perfume which I'm not sure fit the picture in the slightest, but it did cause my husband to quickly turn the page and yell out to me, "I can't see that! She's in her panties and bra!" I smiled and let him know it was a swimsuit but that I was thankful he didn't want to look. He shrugged his shoulders and ended it with, "Eh, I can't tell a difference."

This instantly put the thought and realization that of course he can't! It's the same skin showing! My guess is that this is kind of how it works for guys (at least most!).

With his honesty and lack of filter, he's not thinking about what's cool or in style. He's simply stating that to him...that girl is almost naked.

A friend posted a video on FB within the last week and because the swimsuit was already on my mind, I was intrigued.

Please know I totally understand that everyone has an opinion about this subject and I'm not posting this to judge, just...letting thoughts out. :)

I know for me, these two things make me think twice about what I'm willing to wear.

  1. ummmhmmmm...... wondered if it was this one - Hits the nail on the head so to speak~ I do not understand a woman's willingness to show everyone what is supposed to be for her husband's eyes only -makes it difficult to go to the pool, beach or water park ugh! Love Caleb's honesty - and love the fact that he knows more than most do :) love ya too!!!! Reenie

  2. AMEN and AMEN!!! There's a book by Shaunti Feldhahn called "For Women Only". It talks about what goes on inside a man's mind. If most women understood how a man was wired, I think it would make a difference. I can get on a soap box about this one, so I am going to stop now. I will trust with you, modesty returns. A thought, Beth Moore has always said she loves clothes. She has ALWAYS dressed modestly. You wouldn't call her frumpy or anything else but stunningly well dressed. THANK YOU for being brave enough to put this forth. Father will bless you. I love you, Marion

  3. Dear One, I have been thinking about how Cale responded to the picture. One would think brain injury would drop ones guard against such things. Cale's reaction showed his spirit is alive and well. His brain might not function where it used to be, BUT his spirit is true to Father and he honors Father where it counts. I love you and rejoice in what Father is doing in and through you, Marion

  4. Wow...Kathleen...I was just looking online about two weeks ago at this woman's swimsuit line! I have been trying to find a nice, stylish swimsuit for awhile now. I actually ordered one from another company but just this week had to send it back because it didn't work for me. Anyway, when I watched this video and she got to the end where she was showing a few of her suits I thought "I recognize these suits!!" That is just so cool!!! Anyway, THANK YOU so much for sharing Cale's thoughts on this issue. That was extremely interesting. We have been talking to my almost 16 year old daughter about this very issue and have not allowed her to wear a bikini but sometimes she still wants to fuss about it. This whole issue of modesty is so important! I totally agreed with Marion about her comments about Beth Moore. She loves clothes and fashion but is always dressed appropriately. It can be done but it really takes searching sometimes to find pretty things that are modest. I really appreciate you sharing this with us. That was great! You are a blessing!

  5. This came off of a Simply Modest Swimwear FB account post. Just thought it was interesting and so true.

Boxer Muhammad Ali’s Advice To His Daughter

An incident transpired when Muhammad Ali’s daughters arrived at his home wearing clothes that were quite revealing. Here is the story as told by one of his daughters: “When we finally arrived, the chauffeur escorted my younger sister, Laila, and me up to my father’s suite. As usual, he was hiding behind the door waiting to scare us. We exchanged many hugs and kisses as we could possibly give in one day.

My father took a good look at us. Then he sat me down on his lap and said something that I will never forget. He looked me straight in the eyes and said, “Hana, everything that God made valuable in the world is covered and hard to get to. Where do you find diamonds? Deep down in the ground, covered and protected. Where do you find pearls? Deep down at the bottom of the ocean, covered up and protected in a beautiful shell. Where do you find gold? Way down in the mine, covered over with layers and layers of rock. You’ve got to work hard to get to them.” He looked at me with serious eyes. “Your body is sacred. You’re far more precious than diamonds and pearls, and you should be covered too.”

Isn't that neat? Dads want to protect their girls. :o)
