Happy Birthday Mama!

Today is Mama’s birthday and it was a day full of fun! We really spoiled not just her, but me too! I don’t even want to know how many calories I consumed…! Haha!

Cale hung out with his mom and Dennis all day and played cards, hung out with his cousin, and ate pizza! He also had a really good day! :)

My day started with a super duper yummy breakfast! I made the bacon and Mama made crepes. Surprisingly Cale wanted the crepes and not the bacon! That’s crazy for him to not want the meat! He did eat one slice though. Next on the agenda was going to the movies with Mama, Janis, and Carly. We saw the Disney movie Rio. It was fun, but the movie started at 11:40am, so when it was over, we were hungry! Of course we had to grab lunch!

This was Mama’s birthday goodness! Well, actually, they gave her a free little dessert and then the rest of us split the bigger one ;)

The movie and the lunch were great and already enough to spoil us, but the goodness of the day didn’t stop there! We were really spoiled today! Massages for Mama, Janis, and me were next!!! It felt so good! The lady that did my massage pointed out I had quite a few knots. Once it was all over, my body felt so relaxed. I was kind of wishing there would have been a rewind button so that it could keep going!! I’m so thankful I was able to get that done! Oh man, it was needed. Mama said hers was really good too, which is great since it was her birthday! Janis also loved hers, but she and I went a little wild after ours was done…

After leaving the place, we drove past an area at the mall that was blocked off for Go Karts! Mama said she would be the photographer and sit that one out. No matter how much we begged, she wouldn’t give into it! Towards the end of the race, I had decided that everything the massage did for my body, I probably had just undone! It took muscle to make the karts go! SO much fun! :)

I was really missing Cale by the end of the day. Last night was really hard for him. He was saying he wanted to go home and was fighting so hard against anything I asked him to do. After all the lights were out, Cale threw the covers off of him, sat up, and proclaimed that he was leaving. When I asked him where he was going, he just said, “Away from here.” It broke my heart. I hate that things are so hard, and in those times I wish he understood he was hurt. I wish that he could understand that leaving here wouldn’t make everything better…It was quite the night and then at 5am, he was awake again with the same fight in him. It’s such a blessing that he’s able to express his opinion so strongly about things because that shows how far he’s come and how much his brain has already healed, but golly, it sure does make things hard sometimes.

Tonight after he was home and we were cuddling, he was holding me and so sweetly gave me a little squeeze. Right after he said, “I’m so happy forever that you’re my wife.”

It’s moments like those that we have that seem to help smooth the harder moments. I know he’s still there and still loves me. I know that even though he may have lost a lot of our memories and be really confused right now, he’s still my husband and I’m so unbelievably grateful that I’m able to even type that.

After our sweet moment, Cale accidently burped in my face and then laughed… oh dear… haha! ;)

  1. It sounds like you had a great day. I am so happy for you. I can't even begin to put myself into your place I don't even try. It helps me so to say lot go let god over and over. Cale has done so remarkable with you and the Lord on his side. I feel in my heart that is will be a great future for you two. How can it not with a team like that.

  2. Oh, YAY, YAY, YAY, for such a fun day. Maybe you did undo whatever work was done in the massage, BUT it was WORTH it. :) I am so glad Father is holding you in the palm of His hands, otherwise I don't think I could stop crying for the unintentional hurts you sometimes receive. I love you and am rejoicing FATHER LOVES YOU MORE. I continue to trust Father for you and your sweet husband, Marion
